Veterinary consultations at Medicinal Plants for Animals

Welcome to our consultation page! Here's how you can access our expert plant-based veterinary care for your pet.

How to book a consultation

  • Your pet needs to have been diagnosed with a condition that may benefit from plant-based medicine.

Conditions include: chronic pain (eg arthritis), seizures, cancer, anxiety, chronic inflammatory/immune disease (IBD, atopy).

  • If you have access to your pet’s recent medical records, email them to info@medplants.vet

Alternatively, notify us of your vet’s details and we can obtain them for you

  • Use the booking portal on this screen to select a day and time for your online appointment.

Once you have made your booking, you’ll receive a confirmation email.

In the email, there will be a link that you will simply click on at your appointment time to speak with the vet.

Consultation details

  • Initial consultation: 40 minutes, $130

    Follow-up consultation: 20 minutes, $80.

  • Payment is required during booking and is non-refundable.

We understand that things happen, so we’ll always try to accommodate you if you need to reschedule.

  • We do not charge a prescription writing fee.

The cost of medication is additional to the consultation fee.

What to expect during a consultation

  • You’ll be talking to vets experienced in plant medicine virtually via video or phone.

  • Both plant medicine and telehealth have their limitations. We are careful to stay within a scope of practice where we can provide genuine care to patients.

As we cannot physically examine a patient or perform diagnostic tests, we need to have a recent medical history.

This history needs to include a diagnosis for which plant medicine may have benefit ( chronic pain, seizures, cancer, anxiety, and chronic immune-mediated conditions).

  • Prescription depends on the individual assessment of your pet’s needs. Plant medicine (CBD) is not suitable for every pet.

If a prescription is written, we’ll send you a payment link. Once it’s paid, we’ll process it through our partner compounding pharmacy.

In Melbourne metro areas, we aim to have your pet’s medication delivered to you within 3 business days. We post to other locations.

  • We’ll write up your pet’s medical records and treatment plan and send this to your usual/specialist vet.

Important considerations

  • We’re here for pets with certain chronic conditions, not for acute illnesses or preventive care.

We’re particularly useful for pet owners who live remotely or have trouble getting their pets to a vet.

  • Contact your nearest vet or emergency centre for emergencies.
